Credentials: ASHA Certification, Utah State Licensure, Utah Educator License Level 3. Autism Specialist Certification, Spanish/English Bilingual. Experienced diagnostician.

Clinical Expertise: With over 2 decades of experience in Speech Language Therapy, Betina specializes in Social Therapy, Interpersonal Neurological skill building, Executive Function development and promoting confidence in neurodiverse populations. Strong neuro background combined with years of experience with adolescents on the Autism Spectrum has shaped her clinical focus. Betina’s career has also included specialization in diagnosis and treatment of English Language Learners who have communication disorders. Personal experience with neurodiversity motivates Betina to continue developing effective strategies for the neurodiverse community.

Social Cognitive Approach

Join-In Therapy offers a unique neuro educational approach to social communication, social skills and social anxiety.
Learn how your brain works when you are interacting with other people. Practice social skills in a safe environment. Learn to recognize the warning signs of social dysregulation and how to change ineffective patterns. Learn strategies to help your student be successful. Learn to develop neural pathways toward personalized social goals.

Social Skills

Direct skill instruction combined with socially-safe practice activities are offered in individual sessions as well as in our “Social Lab” groups. Student materials are individualized and promote carryover into real life activities. Join-In Therapy replies heavily on individual client goals and parent input to understand interaction dynamics and target specific skills.

Relationship Skills

Based in the neuroscience of language development and Theory of Mind, Join-In Therapy teaches practical relationship building techniques and helps students to organize their relationships in a conceptual way. Some skills include: types of relationships, conversation guidelines, sharing your interests while also learning about the intersts of others, understanding relationship errors, celebrating relationship successes, connection-break-repair cycle, tools to build trust, how to self advocate in all types of relationships.
